Information - Comparing Mino To Ultra
The Flip Video Mino captures video in 640x480 resolution at 30 frames per second. It retails for about £130 (for 2 GB flash memory for about 60 minutes of video) the Mino does not have a 1 GB alternative like the Flip Video does.
The Mino has many new features that the Flip Video did not have. This includes an internal rechargeable battery instead of 2 AA's and the Mino also has pause, fast forward and rewind buttons whereas the Flip had none of these. The Mino also has some changes from the Flip. The Mino is almost 2 oz less than the Flip and the position of the arm with the USB plug on it has changed positions.

The resolution is 640 by 480 pixels and is a world away from the high-definition pictures of expensive camcorders, but looks crisp and sharp on a computer screen. It has a modest 2x digital zoom, but performs surprisingly well in low-light conditions, and smoothly pans in and out of shots.
Flip users can plug the device straight in to the USB port of a PC or a Mac, edit their footage and upload it to video-sharing sites such as YouTube, MySpace or Facebook. Plug it into the TV and you've got your own version of you've been framed.
Loading to your PC or Mac is a simple case of plugging the entire Video Camcorder in. The software is built into the Flip and also there are no cables needed. It's one compact piece of kit.

If you've used the Flip Video or Flip Ultra, you'll know how to operate the Mino--even its new features are a no-brainer for a first-time user to operate. The Mino adds touch-sensitive controls, which replace all standard buttons (other than the record and power buttons) found on the other Flip models. These four capacitive touch buttons surround the centrally positioned record button; "plus" and "minus" buttons control the zoom and the audio playback volume, while left and right buttons allow you to select videos for playback. The Mino's full set of controls are rounded out by touch-sensitive play/pause buttons and a delete button.
Also new to the Mino is the integrated lithium ion battery (previous models used AA batteries), and the location of the flip-out USB jack, the magic component that makes the Flip models (as well as the Creative Vado) so plug-and-play convenient. Earlier Flip units had a flip-out USB connector on the side; the Mino's connector instead flips out, switchblade-style, from the top of the device. It makes the Mino slightly less unwieldy to plug in to your computer's USB port. When connected, the Mino can upload clips directly to YouTube, AOL Video, or MySpace; you also use the USB connector to charge the device's battery (it has no power cord).

Classic Design
What a great design, so good that I want one! Unlike all of the other digital video recorders on the market the Flip Mino actually looks trendy and has the sleek design such that you can slip it in your back pocket. Will it be to the UK video camcorder market what the Ipod has been to portable music player? I think so, it has already taken a huge percentage of the US market and is set to take the UK by storm.
